CULZEAN AUTOCLASSICA 2009

IS CANCELLED

Latest News

Due to circumstances beyond our control we very much regret we will not be hosting the Culzean Autoclassica in 2009 scheduled to take place at Culzean Castle Ayrshire on August 29th & 30th. We sincerely apologise for this most regrettable situation and to the many who have kindly enquired about the future of the Autoclassica.

Autospirit introduced the Autoclassica at Culzean with the intention of it becoming one of the UK's major motoring events and an international annual attraction for Scotland. The event has been featured in a number of worldwide publications  and the first Autoclassica in 2008 was received with huge acclaim. We made a considerable investment, both financial, team dedication and time into creating an event with the potential to bring to Scotland a unique major international motoring festival with all the associated benefits to the local and regional economy.

We intend to pursue our deliberations with the National Trust for Scotland concerning the future of the Autoclassica being staged at Culzean. Arguably the Trust has a crucial need for and much to gain from the event being hosted at Culzean. As with a number of other Trust properties, Culzean is reported to be running at a significant financial loss. Despite this and the added current economic climate the Trust has adopted an incomprehensible, even arrogant
negative approach to all our efforts to resolve the problems we encountered with them during the 2008 Autoclassica. This has prevented us from returning to Culzean in 2009.  It surely is a sad reflection on the Trust that the Trust Chairman has denied us the courtesy of a reply to correspondence sent to her over two months ago.

If the Trust were to change their attitude and general administration policy towards hosting major events, Autospirit would give serious consideration in returning the Autoclassica to Culzean in 2010 and into the foreseeable future.

We intend to keep all informed of our progress through this web site.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Meantime we would like to thank all those who attended and supported the Autoclassica 2008.
